How did the traditional music of Quebec come to be as we know it today? This multimedia lecture will discuss the historical roots of traditional Quebecois music including elements which comprise this music in its present form today.

Q&A with Curator Nicole Gingras
Canadian writer and independent curator Nicole Gingras will be screening 13 short films as part of the Destination World: Quebec celebration. Not Rated.
According to Gingras, “The artists in question are exploring a variety of hybrid forms: these investigations inherent to the nature of video itself allow media crossbreeding, pictorial or acoustic collages, and collaborations between artists.”

Lowell Celebrates Kerouac! and UMass Lowell's Kerouac Conference on Beat Literature will cosponsor a poetry and
fiction reading at 7:30 pm in 222 O'Leary Library (61 Wilder St.) on UMass Lowell's South Campus. The speakers will read from works containing characters based on Jack Kerouac. The reading is free and open to the public.
Movie ratings will be indicated at each venue. You must be 17 or older to be admitted to an R-rated film without a parent or guardian.
